Zoya Akhtar comes from one of the country's most talented film families. She aided directors like Mira Nair, Tony Gerber, and Dev Benegal before becoming a Writer-Director in her own right after earning a diploma in cinema from NYU. As part of Bombay Talkies (2013), she directed the critically praised Luck by Chance (2009), Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011), and Sheila Ki Jawani. She also co-wrote Talaash (2012) with Reema Kagti. Her distinct approach combines originality, empathy, and uniqueness to produce a one-of-a-kind cinematic experience that appeals to audiences of all ages. Following that, she directed Dil Dhadakne Do (2015), a film about a dysfunctional Punjabi family. Following Dil Dhadakne Do, Zoya Akhtar's next film, Gully Boy (2019), was released on February 14, 2019. The story follows a 22-year-old Muslim boy from a Bombay neighborhood. The boy is a rapper, and the movie follows him as he discovers his love for rap, pursues his ambition, and unwittingly transcends his social class. Following the success of Gully Boy, she collaborated with Reema Kagti, Nitya Mehra, and Alankrita Shrivastava on Made in Heaven (2019), which was published on Amazon Prime on March 8, 2019, and received a positive response worldwide.
